Parents Are Important in the High School Transition Process

Because parents are an important member of the Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee, and have a particularly important role in helping students during the transition process from high school into the world of adult activities, this PowerPoint training was created by the Statewide High School Transition Network to help facilitate the understanding of the transition process and the role parents should take in the process.
The assumption is that the better parents understand the transition process, the better able they are to help the student design a high school program that will facilitate the attainment of identified postsecondary goals.

If after reviewing the PowerPoint, you would like more information, please contact the Transition Specialist at your regional Education Service Center to find out when the actual training will take place. There may be other trainings in which you might be interested. The names and emails of the specialist are listed on the homepage of this website. You may obtain the names by clicking on Statewide High School Transition Network or going to the bottom of the screen and clicking on Contact Us.
